*insert contented sigh here* There is always SO much to read, from books and magazines to blog posts and online articles. What an amazing time to live, I tell ya.
Recently I read J.D. Robb’s latest in the ‘In Death’ series, entitled ‘Indulgence In Death’. As I have mentioned before(click there to read ‘before’), I enjoy this series—have been smitten with Eve Dallas and her man Roarke (Just Roarke…so cool…) for several years now. Smitten to the point that I bought this latest book hot off the presses and read it in one evening…I rarely buy hardcover books hot off the presses.
This book did not disappoint in good Eve/Roarke interactions, yet it would likely not be called one of my favorites of the series. It did seem to be a bit lightweight—but because I like the characters so much, I liked the book. Make sense? I do know that the writer of this series, Nora Roberts/J.D. Robb cranks out a lot of books in a short period of time and, for many authors, sometimes that can make for less than ideal stories in the end…and that’s kind-of-a-little-bit-like what I felt with this one, that it wasn’t quite given enough development. But, in the end, I was just glad to see Eve and Roarke again, so success must be declared on all fronts.
I am fixing to give in to the urge to buy another book that I really want to read, Nicole Krauss’ ‘Great House’. I see no signs of it at my library and I know I’m going to want a copy of it anyway. I read ‘The History of Love’ by the same author and had to buy myself a copy immediately. That book was so.good. So good. (Go read it and let me know what you think.) I have yet to post about it because it was…just. so.good…I haven’t managed to articulate or express coherent thoughts out of the feelings. Isn’t that what makes a book amazing–the feelings it evokes?!?
Happy Sunday in November! 🙂
